Lithography: Photoplate
Photoplate lithography is a printmaking process that uses light-sensitive plates to translate imagery into richly detailed prints. This 4-week class introduces students to the fundamentals of working with photopolymer plates, combining photographic processes with the expressive qualities of traditional lithography.
Students will learn how to prepare and adjust images for plate exposure, explore transparency methods, and gain experience exposing and developing plates. Instruction will cover the essentials of lithographic printing and experiment with tonal range, layering, and mark-making in their compositions.
