Or Maybe We'll Just Drink: A Solo Show Opening by Daniel Wood Adams

The stories you are about to see are true. Only the names have been changed to protect the guilty. This series traces a direct line back to broke summers in suburban Connecticut, fueled by a deep, constant restlessness and an obsessive refusal to sit still.

Even with a car, a day job in advertising, and a relentless schedule playing in three different bands, doing nothing was never an option. Living in a chaotic apartment with my best friend and drummer, life was a non stop pursuit of motion, noise, and total freedom. Hours vanished on concrete stoops, bars, street corners, and sticky basement floors. Vices quickly became habits, and habits became the glue holding our social life together. Cheap beer, hazy late nights, and a quick bicycle ride down the block to my dealers house formed the ultimate survival kit. Having a cop for a mom and a firefighter for a dad made pulling off that lawless chaos an absolute nightmare. As supportive as they were, their overlapping shifts meant half the city was watching. Causing the trouble I was clearly destined to cause required actual tactical precision just to dodge squad cars, fire trucks, and every mutual friend my parents had.

It was messy, risky, and loud, but it was a hell of a lot of fun. That same hunger for freedom never died out. It just traded concrete stoops for riverbanks and packed basement shows for the raw, unpolished wild. Growing up was never about taming the crazy or settling down for a quiet life. It was about taking that exact same edge, redirecting it into nature, travel, and hard work, and refusing to lose the fire that built you.

These linocuts and woodcuts track that full, unfiltered evolution. From the sweat, static, and reckless nights of youth to a life rooted in the outdoors and constant adventure, every carved line is a visual ledger of real stories, shared secrets, and the thrill of figuring out who you are without ever backing down. You can hike your own hike, pick your own poison or maybe we’ll just drink.
